Nomia was created by someone who understands the real challenges of organizing community events and bringing people together.
I'm a husband, father of four, house church leader, and software developer who created this app in my free time. Why? Because I needed something simple to manage our house church and help other house churches in our network.
As I started developing the app I realized I was building exactly what the name suggests. That's what every community needs: good house management, whether it's a house church, extended family, or any group trying to stay genuinely connected.
I have a passion for community and believe that stronger communities make stronger people, and stronger people make strong communities. That's why Nomia exists - not to make money (though that would be nice), but to help communities thrive.
Nomia comes from the Greek word meaning "to plan, manage, or administrate."
In the New Testament (Ephesians 3:9), Paul uses "oikonomia" - literally "oiko" (house) + "nomia" (management) - to describe part of the stewardship that God gave him: to bring to light for everyone the household management of the Church. He was revealing God's plan for organizing and caring for His people.
Leading a house church means organizing meals, coordinating childcare, planning gatherings, and keeping everyone connected. I got tired of complicated tools that nobody wanted to use.
With four kids and extended family scattered around, organizing family meals and gatherings was a constant challenge. Simple tools work better when you're dealing with real life.
I write software professionally, but this is different. This is personal. Every feature exists because our community actually needs it, not because it looks impressive.
I'm one person creating this, but I'm not doing it alone. My wife helps with design decisions, my kids test features (and break things), and our house church community provides feedback and encouragement.
My wife keeps me grounded on what actually matters. My kids remind me that if it's not simple enough for them, it's probably too complicated for everyone else too.
Our house church family tests every feature, provides honest feedback, and reminds me why we're building this - to help communities stay connected and thrive together.
Strong communities create strong people. But most community tools are built by people who've never actually organized a community.
"Every feature in Nomia exists because our community actually needed it. Nothing more, nothing less. That's the difference between tools built by community organizers and tools built by software companies."
I read every email personally. Whether you need help, have feedback, or just want to share your community story, I'd love to hear from you.
