Account Deletion

How to delete your account and what happens to your data.

Account Deletion

Before You Delete: If you own any groups, please transfer ownership to another admin before deleting your account. Groups without owners may become inaccessible to members.

Option 1: Delete Through Account Settings

If you can log in to your account, you can delete it directly from your Account Settings:

  1. Log in to your Nomia account
  2. Navigate to Account Settings from the menu
  3. Scroll down to the Delete Account section
  4. Click the Delete Account button
  5. Confirm the deletion when prompted

Note: Account deletion through settings is processed immediately and cannot be undone.

Option 2: Request Deletion via Email

If you cannot access your account (for example, if you've forgotten your password), you can request account deletion by email:

Email: nomiaappdev@gmail.com

Subject: Account Deletion Request

To verify your identity, please include the following information in your email:

  • Account email address: The email you used to register your Nomia account
  • Full name: The display name associated with your account
  • Reason for deletion: Brief explanation (optional, but helps us improve)

Processing time: Email deletion requests are processed within 30 days. You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been deleted.

What Gets Permanently Deleted

When your account is deleted, the following information is permanently removed from our systems:

  • Profile information: Your display name, email address, and any profile details
  • Authentication credentials: Your login credentials and password
  • Subscription and billing data: Stripe customer ID, subscription records, and payment history
  • Group memberships: Your membership records in all groups
  • Account settings: Your notification preferences and personal settings

What Gets Anonymized

To preserve the continuity of group activities and shared community history, some content you created within groups will be anonymized rather than deleted:

  • Events: Events you created will remain visible to group members
  • Meal signups: Meal coordination entries and dish commitments
  • Messages and posts: Messages you sent in group discussions
  • RSVPs and comments: Your responses to events and comments on posts
  • Volunteer signups: Food train entries and other volunteer commitments

How anonymization works: Your name and personal references will be removed or replaced with "Former Member" in this content. The content itself remains part of the group's collective history but can no longer be traced back to you.

Group Ownership

If you are the owner or sole administrator of any groups, we strongly recommend taking these steps before deleting your account:

  1. Assign a new owner: Promote another trusted member to admin/owner status
  2. Notify group members: Let members know about the ownership change
  3. Export important data: If needed, save any important group information

Warning: If you delete your account while being the sole owner of a group, that group may become orphaned and inaccessible to its members. Please transfer ownership before proceeding with account deletion.
